"Message From the Family"

It was om March 4, 1952 that God blessed me with my first-born Son, Lewis Marco Anthony. He was born at DC General Hospital; the hospital later became a homeless shelter. On May 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M., as we stood around his bed, his brother Rick said, Mom he’s gone.

As an ordained elder, in the A.M.E Zion Church He preached God’s work taught his word and lived by his word. Reflecting on the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. "I choose to identify with the underprivileged, King said. I choose to identify with the poor. I choose to give my life for the hungry. I choose to give my life for those who have been left out of the sunlight of opportunity. I choose to live for those who find themselves seeing life as a long and desolate corridor with no exit sign. This is the way I'm going. If it means suffering a little bit, I'm going that way. If it means sacrificing, I'm going that way. If it means dying for them, I'm going that way, because I heard a voice saying, `Do something for others.'"

The LMA Foundation was established by his brother, for his brother. He wanted to continue his legacy of advocacy in Interfaith, Community and Education.

May God Bless each of you who knew Lewis and was touched by him an anyway. Your anticipated gifts given to this Foundation will be greatly appreciated

Sincerely His Mom,

Marlene Anthony Carter
